Kelley Deal

Kelley Deal is an American musician and guitarist, best known as a member of the alternative rock band The Breeders, which she co-founded with her twin sister, Kim Deal, in 1990. The Breeders gained significant acclaim with their album "Last Splash" (1993), featuring the hit single "Cannonball," which became emblematic of the 1990s indie rock scene. Kelley’s raw guitar work and distinctive vocal harmonies contributed to the band's signature sound, blending elements of punk, grunge, and pop. In addition to her work with The Breeders, Kelley has been involved in several side projects, including the band R. Ring and her solo work. Her debut solo album, "Pigeon" (2002), showcased her songwriting abilities and diverse influences, ranging from folk to punk. Kelley Deal has had a substantial impact on music, particularly in the indie rock genre, where she has been a prominent figure for over three decades. Her contributions have influenced a generation of musicians, especially women in rock, by challenging gender norms and encouraging artistic expression within the often male-dominated landscape of rock music.
